Elk Grove Scrimmage Game/Upcoming Weekend

So the scrimmage game was last night. First 12U game we played. Turned out well, we won 7-6!!! Not a glorious defeat but a defeat none the less.
Myleeah played pretty good. Her catching was phenomenal (okay I am a little biast)!!! Her batting on the other hand definitely needs some work. Not a surprise. Myleeah has always struggled with her batting. She seems to do better when coach Dave is assisting, but he is taking a sabbatical this winterball season. So little miss Mymy will need to work on her batting with another coach. I am considering getting her private lessons (is that crazy?!?!?), but I am not 100% sold on that thought yet. I am going to wait and see how she adjust to her schedule once school starts (Tuesday 9/2). Besides convincing Tanya her step mom would be a pain in the ass (even though I would pay for it myself)... Let me know your thoughts....
Oh, we got good news last night after the game. The coach told us that Myleeah is going to be first string catcher...YIPPEE!!!!!!!! I am so excited about this!!!

Anyway, practice again tonight and field clean-up/prep Friday for this weekends tournament. Going out Friday night to celebrate my friend Christina's 30th B-day.... Cannot pull a late nighter though, because Myleeah's first game is at 8AM. Which means we have to arrive by 7AM... After a day full of Softball games, we are off to watch my twin nephews in their 1st football game (too cool), more games/two parties on Sunday and chores/laundry/back-2-school prep and another party Monday!!! Yikes, I am tired just thinking about!

First Entry/Catch-up

Okay, so here goes..... First blog ever. So before I get started, let me preface with... I have never been much at writing, journaling or blogging (I assume blogging is similar to journaling?!?!?) so please forgive me for any non-sense rambling, poor grammar or bad spelling!

So I decided to start this blog because I saw my little sisters blog page (is that what they are called?) and hers looked cool, so I had to copy her... I also thought this would be a good place for me to ramble on and on about my daughter Myleeah (whom I truly adore) and her softball career.

Yes, you are right.. she is only 10, but trust me it is definately a career. This not so little girl eats, breathes, sleeps and dreams softball. All (and I mean ALL) our free time is dedicated to Myleeah (aka Mymy) and her team. I really love watching her develope in the sport. It is great to see her work hard at something and see that her hard work pays off.

So here we go.... Myleeah began playing softball when she was 8. When I signed her up, I stuck my chest out thinking I was a great mom for signing her up. But soon realized that 90% of the kids she was playing with had began at age 4!!!! Age 4 are you kidding me?!?!?!? I was worried that Mymy would struggle, but she caught on quite quickly!!!

To catch you up....below is a recap of Myleeah's play to date....
Age 8, Spring 2006 Recreation Team 8U Division "The Diamonds" 3rd Baseman Coach Deon "Mike" Brown

Age 8/9, Winter 2006 Recreation Team 8U Division "Lady Ballers" 3rd Baseman Coach Steve Allen & Dave Cain

Age 9, Spring 2007 Recreation Team 10U Division "Lady Ballers" 3rd Baseman Coach Steve Allen & Dave Cain

Age 9, Summer 2007 All Star Team 10U Division "Cordova Fury" 3rd Baseman Coach Steve Allen & Dave Cain

Age 10, Spring 2008 Tournament Team 10U Division "Cordova Fury" Center Field Coach Steve Allen & Dave Cain

Age 10, Spring 2008 Recreation Team 10U Division "Lady Ballers" Catcher Coach Steve Allen, Jason Kerley & Dave Cain

Age 10, Summer 2008 All Star Team 10U Division "Cordova Fury" Catcher Coach Steve Allen, Dave Cain, Jason Kerley & Tom Gaffney

Age 10/11, Winter 2008 Recreation Team 12U Division "Lady Ballers" Coach Steve Allen, Jason Kerley & Tom Gaffney

So we just finished up Summer 2008 10U All Star Season. Her team took 1st at two tournaments & 2nd at another.

This Labor Day weekend will officially commence the 2008 Winterball 12U season. We have a scrimmage game tonight against Elk Grove. The game doesnt count but I am still hoping to win.

So as we begin this season I am a bit nervous... Myleeah just started playing Catcher this spring. She has picked up this position extremely well. Matter of fact her nick name is Sledge-Hammer because she is pretty aggresive. I love Myleeah is this position, she is good at it, enjoys it and is extremely focused when playing it. I am nervous, because as she moves up to the 12U Lady Baller team she will now have to compete against 3 other catchers. All of which are seasoned catchers.

So I get ready for this season with my breathe held hoping that she gets to play the position she enjoys and if not, that I do not become one of those crazy freaky Softball (more deadlier breed than Soccer Moms) Moms...
